Luise Terletzki-Scherf fulfilled the heart’s desire of the director of the manufactory in 1956 with the model of this swan figure. He had been wishing for the porcelain representation of one of those majestic animals which populated the Nymphenburg castle park so numerously, for many years. “I imagine a really angry swan who furiously races across the water,” he wrote in a letter to the artist in 1940. Terletzki-Scherf’s design portrays the animal in a majestic fury as requested with wonderfully puffed out feathers.
