With kinks, folds and moving structures, the Lightscape collection from Ruth Gurvich is based on models made from hand-crafted paper. In 2010, the Paris-based artist worked together with the porcelain masters of Nymphenburg to successfully transform the properties of this delicate material into porcelain form. The optical illusion is most striking on painted pieces such as this fruit bowl: The different coloured layers and individual paintbrush strokes make the decoration showing an Asian landscape look like a transparent water colour.
