If you consider the extensive repertoire of animal figures produced by Luise Terletzki-Scherf, it is noticeable that it was not the artist’s intention to produce a realistic representation of an elephant, hare or fish. She was concerned with the elements of fantasy and colours – two aspects which the master craftsmen and women of the manufactory have been able to demonstrate with superior precision and expertise to this day. This is also the case with this couple of hares that are painted free-hand. The one is blue, the other is black – they are happily munching away on a carrot.
