At the beginning of the 20th century, cute mouse figurines were very popular. During his time at Nymphenburg,Wilhelm Neuhäuser also tried his hand at all sorts of portrayals. He studied the likeness of the delicate creatures, alone or as a pair, but also their character. In this group – a pair of mice nibbling at a ham – the little rodents' social group behaviour and voracious appetite is apparent in a masterfully naturalistic portrayal.
